When my family goes camping, we do our best to have the least amount of impact on the outdoors that we are enjoying. We've camped high up in the Sierra Nevadas, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and all along the California Coast, and we know all these environments need to be taken care of. As parents we also emphasize to our children that our actions in the outdoors affect everyone and everything around us, including wildlife.
When it comes to camp cleanliness, we make sure food and anything that has a scent is properly stored away to prevent attracting any animals especially bears to our campsite. Trust me, that gets the kids cleaning up quick! An essential part of my cleaning camping cleaning setup is Dawn Dish Soap and I'm here to tell you why.
In 2014, I was asked to be a Dawn Wildlife Ambassador and I got to experience and see how Dawn truly works to help save wildlife. I had the opportunity visit The Marine Mammal Center and the International Bird Rescue where I saw some "behind the scenes" work that the awesome volunteers do everyday. I felt especially honored to be part of a three sea lion release at my Bay Area national parks, Point Reyes National Seashore.
I have always used Dawn for my home daily dish washing needs, especially since I don't have a dishwasher (WHAT?!?!). After this great experience as a Dawn Wildlife ambassador, I have started using Dawn as while camping and backpacking, as well using it to wash a lot of our camping and outdoor gear when we come home from our adventures. Dawn is a biodegradable soap, which is necessary when washing in the outdoors, with proper disposal.
I don't know about you but I need some good soap suds to clean my dishes, camping or not! I've tried some other more expensive biodegradable soaps that would never create suds and would leave my dishes oily. Keeping your kitchen camp clean is very important!
Knowing that Dawn supports great organizations like The Marine Mammal Center and the International Bird Rescue, makes me a life-time supporter of Dawn. Dawn is working to help save wildlife through these organizations, reaching out to nature-loving bloggers and doing so much more.
Next time you are gearing up for a camping adventure or at home, you know that by using Dawn you are supporting the wonderful organizations, volunteers and saving these beautiful animals.
